When We First Met
She Said
We first matched on DilMil, a South Asian dating app that brings hearts together. Right from the start, it felt like we were on the same wavelength. We spent hours chatting—deep conversations, silly banter, and everything in between. It was the perfect balance, and we both felt an instant connection.

He Said
She wanted to wait a month to meet me—but in the end, that didn’t happen. We went two days without speaking [I was completely distracted dealing with a break-in], but she couldn't help herself, and was compelled to message me. After all that, we finally met in Milton Keynes.
Our First Date
She Said
On July 28, 2024, we met at a golf course in Milton Keynes—halfway between London and Leicester (though I still say Sawan should’ve driven to me). He suggested mini-golf, which I teased for being a bit unoriginal, so I suggested going to the driving range instead. We ended up making up our own game, with the loser buying ice cream—our competitiveness came out right away.
We drove to the “best” ice cream spot in town, with over 2,000 glowing reviews. But when I arrived, I was shocked—£5 a scoop! I texted Sawan in disbelief. He offered to pay like a true gentleman… only for me to discover it was the worst ice cream I’d ever had. Sawan looked way too smug enjoying his (apparently amazing) scoop. He did redeem himself by offering to take me to KFC.

He Said
She wanted me to plan something interesting, so I did—mini-golf. Turns out, she was not impressed. She claims she suggested a driving range instead, but I know that was my idea.
I won fair and square, which meant she owed me an ice cream. The second she saw the price, she complained. And when we actually got the ice cream? She had even more to say about how bad it was. I couldn’t stop laughing.
Falling in Love
She Said
Over the months, I found myself falling for Sawan—his kindness, humour, and patience. I loved that I could be completely myself and throw anything at him, and he always met me with calm, love, and laughter. Whether we were watching movies or off on spontaneous adventures, every moment with him felt special. It wasn’t one single moment—it was the little things, again and again, that made me realise I wanted forever with him.

He Said
More dates. More adventures. More time together. She was so into me that within a month, she was already asking me to come to Venice with her. And then Leiden.
The Proposal
She Said
On January 22, 2025 — just two days before a big job interview — Sawan asked me to keep the evening free. I thought he simply wanted to take me out to distract me from my interview prep. He even asked me to dress up, so I guessed we were heading somewhere fancy.
When we got to Piccadilly Circus, I knew we were going to see the Phantom of the Opera. But I started stressing about my interview and even texted my sister asking if I should just go home. Sawan was so sweet and said we could leave if I wanted, but I ended up staying, and I’m glad I did.
After the show, we got home and I noticed the living room lights were still on. I went to switch them off, but Sawan rushed ahead—and I immediately knew. My sister had decorated the room beautifully, and there he was, down on one knee. It was intimate, sweet, and couldn’t have been more perfect.

He Said
She always knew I was special. And on January 22, 2025, I made it official*.

She said yes. Duh
